Being the king of too many projects that I will never finish… I’ve started a new one!
Seriously though, I am launching a new dns hosting service (name yet to be decided). I know many people will ask why should I pay for dns hosting when I can run my own dns servers. Many people can run their own system, but I believe that most do not have the time, resources, or expertise to do so.
Symptoms of dns servers today:
- Improperly configured.
- Security risk/holes.
- Inadequate resources.
- Not monitored.
- Connected to the same network segment.
I believe that there is a market for a < $10/month dns hosting service that offers the following features:
- Geographically distributed.
- Web based administration.
- 24/7 support.
- Secure.
- Monitored.
So I am going to build it (actually, all I need to do now is build the web interfaces). I could be grossly incorrect with my assumptions but time will tell on this one. Besides at 100-200 domains the project should be self sustaining (wouldn’t it be nice to have 10,000?).
