I think it’s great that the Government is trying to protect us from the evil Publishers and Apple. But don’t they understand that Amazon was selling books for the Kindle at a loss? There was never a $9.99 price point that had been established in the market it was completely artificial.
So now under a proposed settlement the retailer can sell the book for whatever discount they want. How is this a free market? And, if the DOJ has now established that the Agency model for eBooks is anti-competitive, doesn’t that wipe out the Agency model for traditional book sales as well?
